Could Dry Body Brushing be the lazy girl’s way to eliminate toxins, reduce cellulite and smooth skin in one simple sweep?
Just to clarify ‘one simple sweep’ is actually many simple sweeps, The concept of eliminating toxins, reducing cellulite and smoothing your skin has a name: ‘Dry Body Brushing” and it’s an ancient technique which means brushing your body with a loofa or body brush in order to eliminate dead skin, promote circulation to problem areas (usually the bum, thigh and stomach) but best of all it eliminates toxins.

Before stepping into the shower, whip out your natural bristle body brush and work it in long circular sweeping motions up your body. The key is to start at your feet, and work up your body towards your chest and shoulders. It’s also recommended your work from left to the right side of your body.

Step 1: Start at the soles of your feet. Stroke the brush in sweeping movements from your toes to the heel. Repeat the process several times. Move to the top of the foot and again begin at the toes and sweep the brush to the ankle.
Step 2: Continue to brush up the leg, from the ankle to the calf and shin, up to hamstring and quadriceps.
Step 3: After the legs start moving the brush over the top of the buttocks and hips. Always sweeping towards the heart. You can spend a bit more time here as this is where the cellulite tends to accumulate :-)
Step 4: Once you hit the lower back, glide your brush from the spine out to the torso, all the way up to the shoulder blades. Repeat on the other side.
Step 5: Almost there. Abdominal area, always brush upwards but for this area you also start at the navel and brush in in small circular clockwise strokes, not leaving the skin. Now gradually increase the circular stokes until you reach the outer abdomen.
Step 6: For your arms start at the palm of your hand, stroking towards your heart then the top of your hand and continue up the arm. Finish by stroking over the armpit with light strokes.
Step 7: The final zone is the decolletage. When brushing this area use lighter strokes as it’s very sensitive.
